      • Last updated: 2 August 2026

        Sunfolk is owned and operated by British Naturism. This policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used when you visit sunfolk.bn.org.uk.

        It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains more generally how British Naturism collects, uses and protects personal information.

        What are cookies?

        Cookies are small text files stored on your computer, phone or other device when you visit a website. They can help a website work correctly, remember your choices and provide information about how the website is being used.

        Websites may also use similar technologies, including browser local storage, tracking pixels and scripts. In this policy, we use the word “cookies” to include these similar technologies where appropriate.

        How Sunfolk uses cookies

        We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes.

        Essential website operation

        Some technologies are required to operate the website, protect it from misuse, maintain security and remember choices such as whether you have acknowledged the cookie notice.

        These technologies are provided principally through Strikingly, the platform on which the Sunfolk website is hosted. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.

        Website analytics

        We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the website. This may include information such as:

        • which pages are visited;
        • how visitors reached the site;
        • the type of device and browser used;
        • general patterns of movement through the website; and
        • whether the site is working as expected.

        Google Analytics may use the following first-party cookies:

        _ga

        This cookie is used to distinguish one visitor from another. Its default expiry period is two years.

        _ga_

        This cookie is used to maintain information about a browsing session. Its default expiry period is two years.

        Browser restrictions or our own analytics settings may shorten these periods. Google says that Google Analytics collects information including user numbers, session statistics, approximate location, and browser and device information.

        We use this information to understand which pages visitors find useful, identify technical problems and improve the website.

        Help and contact services

        We use Help Scout Beacon to provide live chat when a member of the team is available and a contact form at other times.

        Help Scout may use browser local storage and a device identifier to recognise a particular browser and device. This can support features such as displaying previous support conversations associated with that device and measuring use of the Beacon facility.

        When you send a message through the contact facility, we may receive the information you enter together with technical information associated with the interaction. Personal information submitted through Beacon is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

        Email and website engagement

        We use Transpond to manage email communications and to understand how recipients interact with the website after following links in our emails or other communications.

        Transpond website tracking may collect information including:

        • unique visits;
        • pages viewed;
        • repeat visits;
        • approximate location;
        • campaign activity; and
        • activity following a link in an email or marketing communication.

        Where a visitor is already known to Transpond, website activity may be associated with that contact. Transpond states that its website-tracking service can record unique visitors, page views, locations and campaign activity, and can connect website activity with interactions following email links.

        This technology is not required for the basic operation of the website.

        Cookie choices

        When you first visit the website, the cookie notice allows you to accept cookies or choose particular categories through its settings. Strikingly describes its available categories as necessary, analytics and preference cookies.

        Necessary cookies are used to provide the website and cannot normally be switched off.

        Where consent is required, non-essential cookies and similar technologies should be used only after you have made an appropriate choice. UK guidance requires organisations to explain what non-essential cookies do and provide an appropriate means of consenting to them.

        You can also use your browser settings to:

        • view or delete cookies;
        • block some or all cookies;
        • block third-party cookies;
        • clear cookies and site data when you close your browser; or
        • use a private or incognito browsing session.

        Blocking all cookies or browser storage may prevent some website features from working correctly.

        Online bookings and third-party websites

        When you select Book Now, you leave the Sunfolk website and are taken to Bookinglayer, the service used to manage Sunfolk bookings. Bookinglayer may use cookies, session storage and similar technologies to operate its booking service, remember preferences and understand how the service is used.

        Information entered when making or managing a booking is submitted through Bookinglayer. Further information about how booking information is handled can be found in our Privacy Policy and in the privacy and cookie information provided by Bookinglayer.

        The Sunfolk website also contains links to travel information, attractions and other websites operated by third parties. When you follow one of these links, the destination website may set its own cookies or use similar technologies. These are controlled by the organisation operating that website and are covered by its own privacy and cookie policies.

        How long cookies remain

        Some cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Others remain for a specified period or until you delete them.

        The duration of individual cookies and browser-storage items depends on their purpose, the settings applied by the relevant provider and restrictions imposed by your browser.

        Changes to this policy

        We may update this policy when the website, the services we use or applicable legal requirements change.

        The date at the top of this page shows when the policy was last revised.
